The school has high expectations for regular attendance and punctuality. Parental support in the matter of attendance and punctuality is essential to success.
We have a desire for ALL of our students to aim for 100% attendance, those who achieve this each half term will receive additional rewards and parents and carers will be invited in for a celebration assembly.
Where absence is unavoidable, parents or carers are required to telephone the school on the first day of absence giving the child’s name, class and reason, along with the anticipated duration of absence.
The contact details for each centre can be found here.
Appointments for medical or dental treatment should, whenever possible, be outside normal school hours. If this is impossible the school should be notified well in advance by telephone or written note.
Attendance monitoring will be carried out by the administration team, the class teacher and the Pastoral Managers, who will telephone parents of absent pupils for whom we have not received notification of absence. The Governors are obliged by law to publish attendance and truancy figures for the school.
Our pastoral staff may be requested to visit your home if there are attendance issues concerning your child.
Parental Holidays During Term Time
Regulations state that leave will not be given to a child to take holidays during term time. Unnecessary absence should be avoided as it is bound to affect a child’s educational progress and attainment.
Leave of absence will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. The following considerations will apply:
In regard to the above, should it be due to employer restrictions then a signed letter from the employer should accompany the request for leave, setting out the prevailing circumstances.
